If they had been paying attention to BOE work over the past few years, they would already understand why our district faces a deficit—and that it’s only because of this Board’s commitment to transparency that the community is fully informed.
Since Jeff and John joined the Board in 2023, the district has faced recurring budget challenges out of our control, driven by an unsustainable inherited teachers’ contract, skyrocketing health benefit costs, and a sharp rise in transportation expenses.
Despite these challenges, we’ve worked collaboratively with administration to craft innovative, responsible solutions that have reduced our deficit—while keeping Holmdel a high-performing district with academic results improving across nearly every measure.
